VeraCrypt Password Recovery

Recover access to your encrypted VeraCrypt volume

Forgot the password to your VeraCrypt container or encrypted drive? Our service attempts recovery using dictionary and mask attacks against the volume header. VeraCrypt uses intentionally slow encryption, so recovery works best when you remember part of your password.

How VeraCrypt Password Recovery Works

  1. Upload just the header of your VeraCrypt volume (first few KB — not your full data)
  2. We identify the exact encryption and hash combination used
  3. Choose dictionary or mask attack based on what you remember
  4. Pay the small start fee and monitor progress
  5. If successful, pay the reveal fee to unlock your password

Why VeraCrypt Recovery Takes Longer

VeraCrypt deliberately uses hundreds of thousands of encryption rounds per password attempt — this is a security feature, not a flaw. It means recovery speed is naturally much slower than ZIP or PDF passwords, even on powerful hardware.

Best Approach: Targeted Attacks, Not Blind Brute Force

Given the slow encryption, a full random brute-force search is rarely realistic. If you remember any part of your password — a word, a pattern, approximate length — our mask attack builder dramatically improves your chances of success.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to upload my entire encrypted drive?

No. We only need the volume header — the first part of the file, typically a few kilobytes. Your actual data never leaves your device.

How long does VeraCrypt recovery take?

This depends heavily on your encryption settings and how much of the password you remember. With good hints, minutes to hours. Without any hints, VeraCrypt's strong encryption makes recovery very difficult.

Can you recover hidden volume passwords?

Yes, hidden volumes are supported using the same attack methods as standard volumes.

Is this safe to use on my personal files?

Yes. We only ever request the encryption header, never your actual files. Headers are deleted automatically after processing.
