VeraCrypt deliberately uses hundreds of thousands of encryption rounds per password attempt — this is a security feature, not a flaw. It means recovery speed is naturally much slower than ZIP or PDF passwords, even on powerful hardware.
Given the slow encryption, a full random brute-force search is rarely realistic. If you remember any part of your password — a word, a pattern, approximate length — our mask attack builder dramatically improves your chances of success.
No. We only need the volume header — the first part of the file, typically a few kilobytes. Your actual data never leaves your device.
This depends heavily on your encryption settings and how much of the password you remember. With good hints, minutes to hours. Without any hints, VeraCrypt's strong encryption makes recovery very difficult.
Yes, hidden volumes are supported using the same attack methods as standard volumes.
Yes. We only ever request the encryption header, never your actual files. Headers are deleted automatically after processing.
